A Fine Breech-loading Flintlock Pair by Croisier, Paris

Jacques Croisier was a Paris gunmaker from 1750 to 1775 (“Der Neue Stockel,” Vol.I, page 254) during which time he made this beautiful pair of breech-loading flintlock pistols.

They feature three-stage turn-off and rifled cannon barrels. This was very rare for the period.  The locks  are signed “Jacques Croisier” and engraaved with trophies and floral motifs; and walnut stocks also embossed with floral motifs. Trigger guards and butt caps in plain, polished iron.

Quality pairs are increasingly more difficult to find, so these fine Croiser’s would assume a special place within the collector’s portfolio.
