Second Model 1851 Navy Colt .36 cal  revolver – 1973

A classic percussion revolver made by Colt 100 years after 19th century production ceased.
The Model 1851 Navy was designed and patented by Samuel Colt between 1847 and 1850 and remained in production until 1873. Colt made these pistols inNew York and London and licensed its production in Europe (“Brevete” models) to reduce the amount of counterfeit manufacturing in the 1860’s. A total of 215,348 pieces were made in New York between 1850 and 1873 and 42,000 in London between 1853 and 1856. 

Between 1973 and 1978, Colt produced 23,401 Second Model 1851 Navy’s.

Ours is number 6621 and was made in 1973. It is unfired and in near-mint condition.
